Orchard Tour FAQ
Each year, over 34,000 students, teachers, and parents visit our orchard for an educational and fun field trip. Over 90% of these teachers make reservations to return the following year. We still have some prime time slots still available, but don't delay, they will fill up fast.
Who are the tours for?
Our program has been designed for children ages 3 years through 3rd grade. We also do tours for grade school and high school students including special needs groups of any age. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a special needs tour.
When are tours given?
Tours take place Monday through Friday in September and October. Classic tours begin at 9am and are offered every 10 minutes until 1:30pm. Our new basic pumpkin tour will begin the last week of September, and will run every 45 min beginning at 9am.
How long is the tour?
Classic tours spend 70 minutes with the guide, this time doe not include your time spent in kids farm or time for lunch. Basic pumpkin tours spend 45 minutes with the tour guide. There is no time allotted for potty breaks so please be sure the children have gone before the tour begins.
What is the tour all about?
Our educational and fun tours give kids the opportunity to learn about the workings of an apple orchard and/or pumpkin patch.
What do students do on the Classic tour?
- Ride on our tractor-drawn wagon through the orchard.
- Pick fresh apples or a pie pumpkin. (Pumpkins are available beginning the last week in September.)
- See our honeybees at work in our glass beehive, and learn about the importance of bees in growing food.
- Tour our apple-packing barn to see our machine that prepares our apples to be sold in our store.
- Learn how a cider press works and taste a sample of our fresh, pasteurized apple cider.
- Visit our farm animals in the kids farm and see chicks hatching in "Chick-ville".
What do students do on the Basic Pumpkin tour?
- Ride on our tractor-drawn wagon through the orchard to the pumpkin patch.
- Pick a pie pumpkin
- Learn about pumpkins and how they are grown
What do the tours cost?
Our Basic pumpkin tour is $4 per person, our Classic tour is $6 per person, and our Deluxe tour, which includes apples and pumpkins, for $8 per person. This does include adults. With every 12 paid admissions you will receive one free admission for a member of your teaching staff. Parent Chaperones are welcome and are charged the same as a the children.
Is there a minimum number needed to do a tour?
There is no minimum student count but a minimum charge of $72 per tour is required.
What about lunch?
You are welcome to bring sack lunches to eat in our picnic area. We have lots of picnic tables, many of which are under shelter. All Tables are first come, first serve.

We do offer lunch for $4.00 per person. This includes a hot dog, chips, and a drink. Please be sure to order these at least 5 days in advance to make sure we have enough.
We also offer our "Classpack" for $20 which includes 30 donuts and a gallon of cider for your class to enjoy. You can reserve these ahead or order them when you check in.
